The Evanston Art Center (EAC), founded over 95 years ago in 1929, is an integral part of community life, providing access and experiences in the arts to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Through community-based events, classes and exhibitions, EAC helps expand its mission to provide accessible arts education and arts enrichment experiences to the community and the surrounding areas.
The Evanston Art Center’s galleries exhibit contemporary artwork by emerging and established artists, and are free and open to the public seven days a week. Exhibition programming includes publications, artist talks, interviews with curators, opening receptions, In Focus lectures and docent led tours for groups (please call to schedule a tour) at no charge to the public.

This exhibition is on display from August 2 - September 14, 2025, and will be free and open to the public. This Moment in Time | NorthShore Black Artist Group Exhibition showcases pieces by contemporary Black artists living in the NorthShore and Chicagoland areas, culminating in a vibrant and diverse range of works and presentations.
The Northshore Black Artist Group (NBAG) is dedicated to connecting, promoting, and supporting artists. The organization includes visual, performing, literary, and media arts. Their mission is to create platforms for artists to showcase their work, encouraging creative expression and innovation. NBAG serves as a community hub, bringing people together for shared experiences and fostering a sense of belonging.
This Moment in Time | NorthShore Black Artist Group Exhibition will be exhibited in the Second Floor Hallway Galleries of the Art Center. The opening reception is free and open to the public. This exhibition is partially funded by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and the EAC’s general membership.
