Concrete Gardens translates Patrick Burns' deep love of the land into richly textured mixed-media monochrome paintings. Burns spent his youth on farms in rural West Virginia, an experience that imparted a love of nature. Prior to earning his MFA, Burns was quarterback of his Division 3 college football team. Today, he has perfected the art of urban gardening and channels this passion into unconventional materials. His art practice focuses on the peculiarities and contradictions of American life and the complex narratives within American history.
