Located in Racine, Wisconsin, a historic community on the shores of Lake Michigan, it occupies two facilities—the Racine Art Museum, an expansive modern gallery with award-winning architecture on the downtown waterfront, and the Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts (Wustum), an exhibition space and studio art center housed in a historic farmhouse surrounded by lawns and gardens.

RAM is known for having the largest contemporary craft collection in North America, with more than 14,000 works by renowned artists in ceramics, fiber, glass, metal, polymer, wood, and more. RAM's thoughtful exhibitions invite visitors to engage with artistic innovation, the physicality of materials, and the intersection of the craft and contemporary art movements.

Wustum—located just two miles away from RAM—offers community outreach programs, studio art classes for students of all ages and abilities, and exhibitions like Watercolor Wisconsin and annual themed Community Art Shows that showcase the vitality of the area's arts scene.

Please visit the website for information about current onsite and virtual programming.

Image: Jarvis Lawson
","type":"EventCategory","state":"published","slug":"exhibitions","created_at":"2018-10-22 18:54:41.176231","updated_at":"2018-10-22 18:54:41.176231","excerpt":"","is_timeless":true,"organization_id":455,"highlighted":false,"opening_starts_at":null,"opening_ends_at":null,"searchable":"'1968':159B '20':186B '2020':161B 'acryl':176B 'actual':128B 'apart':35B 'archiv':152B 'art':182B 'beauti':15B 'canva':178B 'celebr':61B 'collect':1A 'combin':92B 'construct':119B,189B 'content':69B 'creat':155B 'cut':99B 'deal':59B 'debut':146B 'dimens':133B 'dimension':96B 'drama':17B 'draw':181B 'earli':175B 'exhibit':145B 'focus':2A 'goe':122B 'great':58B 'group':163B 'half':143B 'human':29B 'identifi':111B 'imageri':97B 'in-between':106B 'includ':174B 'isaac':4A,84B,88B,110B,157B 'jewelri':183B 'joy':63B 'l':116B 'littl':22B 'lot':43B 'made':129B 'mean':9B 'much':26B 'mysteri':13B 'natur':38B 'near':71B 'never':127B 'new':149B 'new-to-ram':148B 'oeil':117B 'open':73B 'oper':103B 'organ':173B 'paint':118B,179B,187B 'part':32B 'passag':46B 'past':54B 'persist':51B 'ram':151B 'remain':70B 'ron':3A,83B,87B 'said':67B 'sawn':101B 'scope':165B 'see':65B 'seem':135B 'space':109B 'stall':138B 'state':125B 'surpris':19B 'three':132B 'time':48B 'tromp':115B 'two':95B,140B 'two-dimension':94B 'unmatch':169B 'viewer':82B 'wit':23B 'wood':102B,188B 'work':8B,90B,113B,154B 'world':39B","thumbnail":"https://res.cloudinary.com/dfafo598z/image/upload/v1762978522/peod9psfijjwviuytiof.jpg","calendar":null,"carousel":false,"event_body":"
What does the work mean?
